711 words; about a 4 minute read

Mission: Backstories
Location: Operations Center - Decks 1&2
Timeline: MD 0 - 1200

Elia looked around the massive operations center. It was going to require a team, and excellent communications skills. That and a lot of yelling. She walked down the command pit, a myriad of ships were due in.

"Three shuttles have just docked, and are moving out, three more lined up on upper platforms A through C, Ma'am." Came the report from Logistics located on the lower level.

"Continue standard rotation and see when the repairs to the Lower Docks will be concluded, prepare to recieve the Lexington and the Cole for the influx of crew, and have their medical records ready for review. I am sure Dr. Rhys will appreciate that. I also would like a list of incoming." Elia looked to the skeleton crew left over on the Starbase Operations Level. No senior officer except the Doctor, and someone was due in...

Only hours after arriving, with Jason and romy still unpacking, Evelyn had decided to check out the Operations Center and then maybe find the station's Commanding Officer. As she entered the room she couldn't help but be amazed of the space. The Operations Center looked amazing. And even though she'd been stationed on a starbase before, that one did not have such a ultra modern command deck. As she looked around her she noticed several of the crew were now looking at her. She waved nervously. "Uhm, hi..."

Elia didn't stand on Ceremony, some one say she is kind of blunt in these situations. "Hi Lieutenant, how can I help you?"

" Hi... Uhm.." Evelyn stammered. Chastizing herself to knock it off with the insecure stuff she took a deep breath. She quickly looked at the pips of the woman in front of her and upon seeing the four golden ones, she realised who was actually standing there. "Captain, Lieutenant Evelyn Jamison, reporting for duty."

The Captain smiled, looking the young woman over, she looked a lot like her daughter from the Antiquities - Isolde, her baby. She held back her emotions. "Welcome Lieutenant, let's check out your station just over here." She motioned to the left just past the empty engineering console, "The Logistics Department and Communications Departments will take a lot off your plate, but you still have a lot of overlap, these departments are a Starfleet Experiment." she paused and leaned on her console, "Your husband, he is a teacher no?"

Evelyn took her space behind the console and couldn't stop herself from feeling the display with her hands, which offcourse created a sound from it that she quickly manages to turn off again. "Uhm sorry, " she said to the captain as the question the woman had asked registered in her mind. "Oh, yes! Jason is a highschool history teacher originally although he mostly focusses on his writing at the moment and on Romy. Why do you ask, if I may be so bold to ask?" How did she even know, crossed Evelyn's mind for a second.

Nodding Elia looked at the young woman’s fascination with the technology… she is not Isolde - “The Education department on New Haven has started to prioritize Religious Education over Starfleet Standards under the edicts of their provisional governments request. As a result Starfleet feels it is a viable solution to offer a viable alternative here on the Station - I need a Headmaster that has experience.”

"Oh, that sounds great. I'm sure he would love that. He already does Romy education since she was old enough to go to school. My previous posting didn't have a lot of children so we decided it was best to homeschool Romy." Evelyn started explaining. Jason had done most of it involving their daughters education. "You should ask him,"

"Sounds great! Anything else?" Elia inquired.

"Not at the moment," Evelyn replied. "I just arrived to be honest. I read up on the station, but if you don't mind I work best by looking around first. I might have questions later on, and I'll be sure to ask them when I do."

"If there is anything please do not hesitate." Elia smiled. "Oh by the way Lieutenant, avoid the Touring System - it is acting up since the installation of the RAS-D's."

"I won't," Evelyn said. "I know where to find your office,"
